Our Philosophy
Our philosophy at The Budo Kai Martial Arts Institute is one of non violence. We believe in developing an individuals character and morality. Specifically focusing on physical, mental, and spiritual discipline, honor and respect, through the positive aspects in the martial arts.
The student comes to realize that the physical discipline is but one part of their training and the mental and spiritual discipline becomes the most important and useful aspects of their development.
Though the student develops confidence in themselves, and recognizes, that he/she has the physicial and mental ability to sucessfully defend themselves in a confrontation, they are taught to honor and respect others. Thus, realizing that it is better to use reason and intelligence to try to settle a dispute, and only use their physical skills as a last resort.
Expecting that people will have cycles in their training, (as in most other things in our lives that we participate in on a long-term basis), we emphasize that the key to success in the martial arts and also in life, is to pace oneself and remain consistent. Enjoy the high points and "Ride out" the lows. Longevity is the key to success, and we would rather watch a student maintain a steady and reasonable pace of improvement rather than be the "Flash in the Pan".
It is our belief that Christian values are the foundation upon which our school should conduct business. We value our students and our relationships with them and their families. We distinguish ourselves in the style and the quality of our teachings. We are dedicated to assisting our students in achieving the highest level of excellence in martial arts training.
Our Instructors are trained from within our dojo's, and are of the highest caliber having the student's best interest in mind. Our overall mission is to develop sound, free thinking citizens devoted to a higher quality of life. We believe in uplifting our community via charity events, community service projects, as well as, instilling good values in leadership by action.
